Daan and Corrie about their house and the surrounding area.
The 'farm' is a spacious house with an open living room / kitchen, situated at the quiet 'Lenin út' number 6, right in front of the Reformed (Református) church. At Sunday there will be a church service, don't hesitate to take a look, you will hear the church bells ringing!

In summertime at sunrise, when the weather is nice, you can hear the humming bees from our neighbour who is a beekeeper and you can hear the pig from our other neighbours. Our opposite neighbour has a key as well and keeps an eye on the house.
Just a few minutes walking and you will be at the Lázbérc reservoir. It's an excellent fishing site, but swimming is prohibited because it's a large 18km wide drinking-water reservoir. In the vicinity you will find all sorts of wild flowers accompanied by a lot of butterflies.
In the summertime it can be pretty warm, but in the house it will be nice and cool, also at night it will cool off. The people are very friendly and helpful and for every job we found someone, so we have enough contact addresses in the case of unexpected repairs or malfunctions.
The people speak Hungarian, still a very difficult language, but fortunately our new neighbour on number 7 is speaking German as well, for the rest we have to use our dictionaries a lot.
There is a bicycle at the house which you can use to go to the small -Coop- supermarket, for daily shoppings and bread. It opens at 7am. For groceries and a butcher's shop you have to go a little further on your bicycle. In the village there is also a shop-of-everything. But maybe not for long, because huge Tesco's (in Eger and Kazinc-Barcika) are drawing more and more customers.
Come here in May / June and you will hear the nightingales! In our garden we have all sorts of singing birds, in particular swallows, before you know it, they're inside the house!
In the village center there is a small restaurant where you can dine for a very low price, but try to pay the exact amount of money.
The currency is still Forint, about 250 in one euro, there's an automatic teller machine in the neighbouring town.
In Szilvásvárad there's a lot to do and to see. You can go with a small train to the Szálajka-valley and walk back if you want, or you can rent a mountain bike there and use it to go uphill.
A very good restaurant over there is the Lóvas-étterem (horse restaurant), where you can also check your e-mail. The personnel is speaking German and there's an extensive menu. Of course you have to taste the famous local wines, Égri- bikavér = bulls blood, and the sweet white wines.

The magnificent caves of Aggtelek further to the North are waiting for you to be explored, you will need a couple of hours over there, and also the cave swimming pool in Miskolc-Tapolca is worth paying a visit. Hiking in the Bükk mountains is an adventure, for example to the ruins of an old castle (Dédes-Vár).
So: take your hiking shoes with you!
As you can read you will be surprised by a lot of new experiences!
